Lease On Requirements
Driver Qualifications
- Valid Class A CDL
- Minimum 2 years verifiable tractor-trailer experience
- Clean MVR — no more than 3 moving violations in the past 3 years
- No DUI/DWI convictions in the past 5 years
- Must pass DOT physical and drug screen
- Must be at least 21 years of age
Equipment Requirements
- Truck must be 1994 or newer
- Must pass a Landstar safety inspection
- Truck must be in good mechanical condition
- Must have a functioning ELD (Electronic Logging Device)
- Sleeper berth required for over-the-road runs
Insurance & Authority
- Landstar provides primary liability insurance while under dispatch
- Bobtail/non-trucking liability insurance required (available through Landstar)
- Occupational accident coverage available through Landstar
- No need for your own operating authority — run under Landstar's
Background & Safety
- Must pass a criminal background check
- PSP (Pre-Employment Screening Program) report required
- Previous employer verification (last 3 years)
- Must enroll in Landstar's random drug & alcohol testing program
